We recruited urgently needed stem cell donors to save the lives of ethnically diverse Australian blood cancer patients.


Blood cancer is racist. A critically ill patient’s chance of survival depends on the number of registered stem cell donors who share their ethnicity.
As the most ethnically diverse country anywhere in the world, and with one person diagnosed with blood cancer every 28 minutes, Strength to Give (now known as Stem Cell Donors Australia) faced a critical shortage of donors.
To highlight this urgent need, we created a recruitment campaign featuring a cast of diverse Australians, each with unique strengths, skills, and cultural connections. The one thing they all have in common? There’s no one like them on Australia’s stem cell donor registry.
This powerful and confronting message delivered a 162% increase in stem cell donor registrations and is already saving lives.
